Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey is set to send ripples between the royal family this week. So we’re betting Britain won’t be on their ‘must visit’ list any time soon. Which is a shame as, despite his seniority in the family, the Duke of Sussex has never travelled on the royal train. So is this the one thing that Prince Harry will never do in Britain?
Photos show him travelling around the world on royal business in considerable style. But astonishingly, he has never travelled on the exclusive Royal Train.
William and Catherine’s great train adventure
In December 2020 William, the Duke of Cambridge and Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge took a packed 3-day journey around Covid-hit Scotland, England and Wales on the royal train. The couple got to enjoy all the royal trappings on board, including the train’s royal bathroom. Those close to the Queen says she likes to travel on the Victorian train whenever she can but Harry has never been near it.
As well as the Queen, lucky royal guests on board the royal train have included the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles, the Duke of Cornwall and his wife, Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall.
Meghan top trumps Harry
Even more intriguingly, Prince Harry’s wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, has travelled on board the train which has always been used by senior members of the British royal family. Meghan famously took to the rails with the Queen on a journey from London to Cheshire back in 2018, when the pair conducted a very successful double-act royal engagement. No doubt, she told Harry all about it when she arrived home.
Sadly, it looks like a trip on the royal train is something that will always be on Harry’s bucket list.
