Designer Secrets

Over ten weeks, you’ll discover how the company’s talented team of designers manage to recreate some of the best loved trains including the Flying Scotsman and the Hogwarts Express in miniature. You’ll also see how they’re modernising the company to appeal to a new young audience.
First episode secrets

In the first episode of the show, you’ll discover what happens when the team launch a metal diecast replica of a 1940’s steam locomotive, the Merchant Navy, General Steam Navigation. Development Director Simon Kohler leads the project as he remembers his brother getting one for Christmas as a child.

The company doesn’t only design miniature trains – they also boast the best miniature racing cars and heritage fighter planes. And each programme will follow the design process from drawing board to perfect mini replica. You’ll marvel at how the dedicated team manage to perfect everything from the sound of a 1930’s steam loco or the stitching on a First World War fighter plane.
